Colorado CAPCO, L.P (MCC), is a certified capital company in Colorado.
The Certified Capital Company (CAPCO) Program was created by the
Colorado State General Assembly in 2001. Its primary purpose is
to provide assistance in the formation of new businesses and the
expansion of existing businesses that create jobs in the state by
providing an incentive for insurance companies to invest in Certified
Capital Companies. The Certified Capital Companies then invest those
funds in Colorado-based small businesses. In exchange for the insurance
companies' cash investment in Certified Capital Companies, this
program authorizes the Allocation of Premium Tax Credits to insurance
companies as the incentive to invest in Certified Capital Companies.
The
legislature authorized two Premium Tax Credit Allocation Pools of
$100 million dollars, in aggregate, will be referred to as the 2002
Pool and the 2004 Pool. Additionally, the Statute further divided
the 2002 Pool and the 2004 Pool into a $25 million rural pool and
a $75 million statewide pool. The two $25 million rural pools shall
be available for investment in Designated Rural Counties in Colorado.
The two $75 million statewide pools, available under the 2002 Pool
and the 2004 Pool, shall be available for investment statewide throughout
Colorado.
The Colorado CAPCO Program is managed by the Colorado
Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
